What are Stem cells?

Stem cell transfer is a procedure done in the office setting where blood from bone marrow or fat is extracted, filtered, and the stem cells are utilized to grow cartilage in an arthritic joint. These stem cells grow and develop into cartilage and are called autolgous mesenchymal stem cells. Stem cells are being utilized to treat arthritis and other conditions. Mini liposuction is done usually in the abdomen and the stem cells are extracted from the fat and utilized with the platelets.
